Jimmy Johnston is a 27 year old singer/songwriter and has been playing guitar, and writing songs since he was 12 years old. At high school a Jimmy and a few friends started a band, performing mainly original material, during which time they played lots of gigs for students, parents and staff. They gigged around Birmingham, touring the local clubs and pubs for a few years. Jimmy also began to write songs by himself and when the band split he decided to start playing solo as much as he could in various venues in an effort to become recognised as a singer/songwriter in his own right, and based on the comments he have received from the public, he feels that in the last couple of years his song writing capabilities have improved considerably. Recently "Kerrang" FM asked Jimmy if they could play one of his tracks on the ‘Unsigned show’. This radio programme showcases the best of Birmingham’s unsigned talent, and his song received a great response from the listeners. Jimmy enjoys giving live performances of his own material, and is ardent about song writing.
